London, England

I wish we had had more time in London, firstly because I wasn't able to make it to Highgate Cemetery, which I very much wanted to see, and also simply because it's such a big city and impossible to get a really good feel for over only a couple of days. The best and least-touristy interactions I had were during my brief forays to the pubs around our hostel; it's difficult to get away for long periods of time from a family that doesn't drink to go out drinking and thus my time was limited, but I met quite a few very nice people who seemed very enthusiastic about a bemused Yank invading their local bar.

We went on a pretty awesome walking tour of the city, and the guide was really down to earth and great. He's been to 72 countries and is continuing on later this year as soon as he's made enough money running tours. Lots of good history, including some amusing  anecdotes. I now, for example, know the origin of the phrase "stiff drink". Look it up.

In other news, we've now met up with our friends in Sweden and I'm in route, currently in Spencer's friend's car at 130 km/h, to their home town of Boras. The weather, in what the friend assures me is a rare event, is incredible at the moment; should be a nice change of pace from the dreary, albeit authentic, experience in Ireland. Hopefully our hotel has WiFi.
